Pork Stew as in Pork Nilaga

I have thought of cooking pork sinigang but my husband told me not to cook the pork that way because he wants to eat some. Yeah right he doesn’t like sour soup, he preferred pork nilaga or stewed pork especially when he add soy sauce on it.

Well as expected he ate a lot and when it is my turn to eat guess what is my surprised he almost didn’t left some for me. What’s left is potatoes and few meat or let me say fat, he ate the meat and left the fat to me. Lol!

Deworming Dogs

Like kids dogs should also need to be wormed,  regular worming can protect your dog against internal parasites. You can either get it in liquid or tablet form. It is healthy to wormed adult dogs once  a year and if they are in contact with children dogs should be wormed at least once in every six months.

Dog worming is not just all about buying the medication for deworming which you can buy cheaply in local supermarket around you. It is essential and important that you know how to do the proper process for the care of your  pet, as what I have read the treatment should begin with heart worms because the medicine that is use to treat this type of worms are  also effective to treat round worms, whip worms and hook worms. Then the last one to be treated is tape worm which tickle the dog’s anus so when you see your dog dragging its rear end, he is probably infected with tape worms.

Shopping Day

Every Wednesday is our shopping day so even if I don’t feel like going out I have to go if I don’t want to starve all week. I found this images amusing, these are all taped on the wall going down to Lotte Super. It feels surreal because I usually see images like in science class room in elementary grades, go, grow and glow foods.

Not so much sale today the blocks of treats like cookies and biscuits table that are always on sale is almost empty dunno if they are all sold out or maybe not in sale anymore.

Chicken Adobo with Sweet Potato

This is my favorite viand chicken adobo with sweet potato. I felt bored just eating chicken adobo alone so I experimented with different variants, I have mixed sweet potato and green peas too.

We usually used sweet potato in vegetable stew at home so I have thought of using it in adobo too. The result is kinda good because the sweetness of the potato compliment with the salty taste of the soy sauce. You should try this recipe too, just cook adobo the way you cook it and just add sweet potato.

Dog as Family

This photo below went viral on Facebook and I happened to see it on my wall, the dog named Douglas is helping the paralyzed old man to cross the street by pushing an improvised cart.  Mang Tony (the old man) was paralyzed when he was shot on his back on 1988 and after 21 years he found Douglas who serves as his feet and guide on the street,  together they begged for alms to survive.

Mang Tony is living alone and for him Douglas is not just a friend but his family. Their story is very touching, Douglas is very protective with Mang Tony, I hope the government could help them. Watch the full video here.

Comfort and Pets

Owning a pet is not just like owning a toy that you could play anytime you want, owning a pet is a responsibility that  one should remember. It is like adding one member to the family because they are not just animals or pets that can just neglect when we are busy or something, they need love and attention too because they also have feelings that us human couldn’t understand as.

When I feel sad and lonely and there is nothing to talk too I hug my cat or puppy and sometimes I talk with them like they can understand what I feel, doing so I received a  feeling of comfort.

Anyway I always took a kitten or a puppy if we have one with me  no matter where I go around our neighborhood  especially when buying a viand in the nearby made shift canteen, the feeling of being alone while walking never existed because I have a pet with me.

Life in Korea

Today is the three years marked since I arrived here in Korea. I can still vividly remembers my first flight alone, nervous and excitement. My husband fetch me at the airport and the feeling of being reunited and being strange with the surrounding around me is glittery.

My first few days are are not that bad and not that good, I hate the smell of gim I barely eat gimbap. The gimbap that my husband bought for me while we are in the subway stays in the fridge until it was already too hard to eat and your guess is right as mine I have to throw it.

I didn’t even appreciate the taste of kimchi it is too salty and hot for me, same thing with their noodles I felt like I ate a whole bunch of chilli peppers so what I did those time is pour a lot of water in my cup and use a little amount of seasoning so I can eat without a problem. And there comes the instant ottogi meal I only eat few of them like the meat balls, barbecue chicken and etc., but the rest are wasted.

My husband buy a lot of food for me but most of them are wasted so week by week my food supplies declined and I only eat eggs and noodles, I lose weight and that’s for sure but when my husband’s contract in Seoul ended after few months and we moved on where we are now, everything changed.

I started to love kimchi, being addicted to gimbap, bibimbap and other Korean food. I appreciate the food and eat without hesitation I have been in love with the gim I can even eat gim alone. Oh well in short period of time I have adjusted on the food here, the place and everything and it is hard to believed it is already three years since I arrived here.

Fish Cake Soup

I didn’t buy a lot of food when we shopped for our weekly supplies because I am planning to cook  and eat the old stocked  before buying more. One of the old food I have is the fish cake or eomook in the freezer so I made a soup from it. For me it tasted good even though it doesn’t taste like the fish cake soup they have in the street.

Sauteed Pork with Carrots and Cabbage

This is my menu for today, I sauteed  a pork with  carrots and cabbage. It is simple but yummylicious because I used Ginisa Mix on it. I sauteed garlic and onion then add the pork and cook it until brown, add water, the carrots, cabbage, salt  and ginisa mix and cook until tender.

Cat and Dog

Who said that a cat and a dog wouldn’t be happy together? It is an old saying, belief that cat and dog wouldn’t work together but I guess it depends, look how comfortable Jihoo with his cat friend.  It looks like they’re having a conversation eh, dunno what they are talking about.
