My sister came home late from work and buying food to cook for dinner in the market is somehow not possible anymore so we decided to eat a sizzling dinner at Ghetto Plates again, since have enjoyed our first dine in experience.

There are more students eating dinner than we first came in, it seems the place is popular among students who stays in boarding houses in Odiongan. We seated on the same place and order the same food, the three of us chooses their mixed sisig (pork and chicken) for ₱50 each and we also ordered grilled chicken ₱110 and three more extra fried rice and their delicious ice cream in cup.

I have enjoyed our meal as well as their complimentary soup, I love how the ginger and black pepper taste together so when my mother didn’t touch her soup I asked for it and drink it all which I think a wrong moved because I woke up in the middle of the night with chills, shivering in cold but sweating which means I have a lot of toxins in my body, maybe the complimentary soup has a lot of MSG in it.

There are times that we don’t feel like cooking at home especially when life become so busy or there are no fishes in the wet market. So when we take long in the market getting some order/items for my store we decided to eat dinner at Ghetto Plates.

Honestly, a few months ago we have planned to eat dinner at Ghetto Plates but then we decided to eat at Deli Hunter instead upon seeing that the restaurant is always busy. Anyway, Ghetto Plates is well known for their sizzling sisigs and delicious pizza, it was our first time to dine in and experience the vibe of the sizzling zone. We have avoided Ghetto plates thinking their food and pizza is expensive.

Previously, they have resto-bar at Torrel-Dapawan  but it closes and they moved to Tabing-Dagat (resto-bar) where a friend of mine had an awful experience but then it was gone just like the previous one and they remained in the old town wet market.

Contrary to what we believed, food at Ghetto plates were actually cheap.  Their food only cost a bit from student meal “kumo”. My sister and I ordered Chicken and Pork Sisig for ourselves while my mother chooses the chicken sisig that cost ₱50 each with complimentary sizzling soup.

We ordered a family size vegetable and meat pizza for take-out, spring roll ₱100 for 8 pieces and mixed sisig ₱90 for take-out as well and we had their savory ice cream for ₱20 each.

Well, if you are a student who’s already tired of eating a common student meal or someone who visited the town of Odiongan and looking for a sizzling meal  in a very affordable price, think no more and hop in to Ghetto Plates, they do deliveries too. You can find them at:

I wasn’t feeling well these past few weeks, I have indigestion and acidity to deal with, painful upper back and hips and then these past few days I felt a discomfort on my left foot and since yesterday my knee hurts like it was dislocated.

My mother told me that I drink too much coffee that’s why my hips is painful, she encourage me to drink a herbal coffee, I have been drinking it for sometime but I got tired of the taste of it so I switched back to 3n1 coffee and since a few days ago I drink the herbal coffee again but the pain didn’t still go away. I guess, it is already sign of aging, the perks of getting old.

Early this morning I did cold compress into my left foot, it was very painful but to no avail my foot didn’t feel any better, my knee hurts even more especially when I stand up from sitting.

Anyway,  I have feed my cats and dogs at lunch and I accidentally slid with my left foot (like someone push me) while carrying their food, I have already thought of getting a broken bones but surprisingly my foot got better, it fixes my foot and knee, the discomfort was gone and my knee didn’t feel that painful anymore. I have wonder how did I slid but I didn’t think much of it anymore, I am just thankful that it made my foot and knee better.

My back still hurting though, I don’t know if it is because of acidity. I was washing the dishes when I tried to burped and puked many times, when I did I tasted acidity in my mouth. I am feeling anxious about my upper back pain because I inhaled a lot of muriatic acid fumes almost a week ago when I cleaned our bathroom and living room. Morbid thoughts about my lungs is disturbing me, huhuhu.

Cleaning the bathroom is one of the things I do even before, so a few days ago I decided to clean our bathroom barefooted, it was been a long time since I cleaned it thoroughly because the water supply in our barangay (village) is scarce, the water only runs in the morning for about 2-3 hours.

As cleaning agent I used muriatic acid as well as bleach without using a mask for protection,  I have cleaned it thoroughly from walls to floor. I have turned the lights and fan but I think it was a wrong move because I inhaled so much fumes from muriatic acid leading me to choke and cough, I went out for a bit to inhale fresh air. When I am done cleaning I switched off the light and fan and that’s when an electricity bolt run through my finger to my head, I was shocked for a moment but I still managed to pull back my finger, maybe if I didn’t I was electrocuted to death.

The bathroom switched light was gone for a minute, I have already thought I broke the switch. I was thinking if I should tell my mother that I was almost electrocuted and I broke the light/fan switch. Thinking she might go to the bathroom and get electrocuted as well, I decided to tell her not to touch the bathroom switch and a little story of what had happened to me inside.

My mother is really epic, instead of being worried to me I got scolded for being careless and splashing water in the wall where the electric switch was.

Anyway, it was the strongest electric shocked I encountered in my life maybe because I am barefooted, the electric switch and the floor is wet as well as my hands.  I thought it was the end of my life but I guess I still have purpose here on earth.

My head aches after I got electrocuted, the lower part just below my ears. I think my brain got an electric shock! The next day, I cleaned our living room using muriatic acid and inhaled more fumes again.

About a month ago I was infected and sick with chikungunya virus, a viral disease transmitted to humans by infected mosquitoes. It hits me by surprised because it wasn’t viral yet in our village and I didn’t hear any one had it, in neighboring village yes but to ours none.

I have visited a herb doctor thinking I was bewitched by unknown being, I felt better after doing so but the next day, upon waking up I can’t get up, my legs and my knees are very painful.  I was in severe pain and feverish as well, my family doesn’t believe me, I guess they are thinking I am making up things. It was a very hard for me to get up and dragged myself to the bathroom, I can’t get up without crawling and looking for something to hold on to.  I have told my family that I have chikungunya virus but they insisted I am only brewing a flu. My sister even get angry when I keep insisting that I have the mosquito virus, I think they can’t accept the truth that I am sick.  I have never been sick this grave so I guess they have the perception that I am made of steel so they are on denial that I am indeed sick because at first, they wanted me to get up and do things like I usually do.

They knew that I never failed to attend church during Sunday so things sink in to them that I am really sick especially when I show them the rash that are developing, my mother even says they looks like measles rash. Anyway, I have asked my sister to buy paracetamol tablet for me I took it after they force me to eat lunch.

Chikungunya Virus Infection Symptoms & Treatment

Symptoms of Chikungunya usually begin 3–7 days after being bitten by an infected mosquito and below are some of the symptoms when you have the virus –

• The most common symptoms are fever and joint pain.
• Other symptoms may include headache, muscle pain, joint swelling, or rash.
• Chikungunya disease does not often result in death, but the symptoms can be severe and disabling.

When I took paracetamol my fever subsided but the pain in my feet and wrist still there so I research more about the virus and I have found out that there is no vaccine to prevent or medicine to treat chikungunya virus. All you can do is rest well, drink plenty of fluid and take paracetamol to reduce fever and pain.

The pain is really disabling, it feels like you just had a stroke. I experienced a lot of pain on my right leg and knee, I read somewhere that when you are sick with chikungunya virus it will ache a lot in the part of your body you had an injury, my right leg was hit by a motorbike in Jeju while crossing the street so imagine my horror when I can’t walked and felt a severe pain on my right leg, I got so anxious and almost got panic thinking my feet will be cut.

On the second day of getting the mosquito virus my skin was quite dark, bit feverish and feet, legs, knees and wrist is still painful but I can move a bit.  I heard my younger aunt asked my mother if I am already well and what is my sickness because an older cousin has it too, he has red rashes all over his body but no fever.

On the next following days I was covered by red rashes that looks like minor burns and on the sixth day the rashes became worst  and when I was accidentally got wet by drizzling rain I felt itchy so I thought the rain drops were just so dirty so I took a bath and there I itched even more, I have thought again the water in our bathroom is dirty because it was so itchy that I don’t know which part of my body should I scratched first, and there I found I have rashes all over me.  I dry myself immediately and pour lotion into my body and uses the ointment I have bought online for treating allergies, the itchiness wasn’t that severe anymore.

My fever was gone after 2-3 days by taking paracetamol tablets, the pain didn’t disappear right away.  When I wake up in the morning my joints felt so painful, even until today.

You know what is ironic? My mother who keep insisting I only have flu also got the chikungunya virus the after two days I had it, it was terrible when she had it because she suffered stroke a year ago and she was disabled for a day that my father didn’t go to work so he can carry her.

Anyway, when I was a bit well and can go out I have found that an older cousin was sick too before us but they didn’t know it was chikungunya because they just said he has a high fever, and less than a week after, another older cousin had it, I thought he didn’t suffer a fever but he did actually before me.

Maybe if  we only knew that a cousin in the neighborhood had chikungunya infection we are able to do some prevention not to be infected as well.

For so many years, J and I have eaten to fast food restaurants especially when travelling.  We are so tired eating burgers and fried chicken, that we always look for Subway Cafe in every city we went too, we prefer their sandwich than eating burgers.  So, I have never eaten burger for so long when I came home, it was only when I got tired of eating local food.

Anyway, nothing special to dine out, a relative came home from abroad but my grandmother looks like a bankrupt Chinese all looking sad with matching teary eyes, so I guess she didn’t received any present and now she is seeking for attention because she only hang-out outside the compound looking blankly at people with her very sad face when she needs it.

With this, I decided to bring her to Jollibee Odiongan she was never been there since it was built and opened, so imagine how wide the smile on her face when she was told we are eating dinner at Jollibee. It was around seven in the evening when my family and grandmother went to Jollibee, and it was a bit busy and there was no vacant table to accommodate five people so I have asked if it is possible to eat upstairs but I was told just to use downstairs to my initial disappointment because the table that was given was a small round table for four people and the fifth chair will be positioned along the way blocking other people.  It wasn’t the first time Jollibee Odiongan made me feel bad, when we first dine in I was given a meal in a box when every body else was eating on their plate, dunno what is this fast food against me (lol). Honestly, I was asked that time if possible they could just served me a meal in the box because it was already available, I was surprised and because I don’t want to create a scene for being picky and stalling the line up, I just said ok but deep inside I felt bad (lol).

Since, they disappointment me for the second time I dine in, I just mentioned what to order and let my sister order it for us.  Gladly, a more spacious table was vacated so we moved.  We ordered five of their chicken joy super meals and pineapple juice as drink since cola isn’t allowed for my mother, five halo-halo Sundaes and extra order of Jolly spaghetti for me.

My grandmother was very happy being able to see and eat at Jollibee Odiongan, her smile is priceless. While eating I realized I am acting out and being childish, I am eating in a fast food restaurant and not in a fine dining so I should not expect a better table and maybe they have already clean and sanitized the second floor so it wasn’t allowed to use, but it is a way too early to clean isn’t it? Oh, well maybe they’re saving operational cost. I let my disappointment go and just enjoy the quality time with my family.  I was given a survey card and I didn’t vent out my disappointment in it, I shaded all positive reviews.

Since eyes is bigger than the stomach my sister and I ordered another set of a meal consisting rice and chicken with free cola which we just brought home after failing to consume it and realizing maybe we are not fair I have also ordered extra burger for my family which they also brought home since they’re all full.

Monina has five new kitties as what I have mentioned on my previous post, four of them are male and only one female and among the five kitties there is one kitty I liked the most, the only black kitten. I called him “blackie” but knowing my family they might named give him a Korean name again.

Blackie is the smallest and frailest among the five kitten but he is the cutest.  He loves to go inside our house and follows Jinja, hopefully he won’t be trained by Jinja on how to steal food (lol).

Well, long time no update over here. I got sick with chikungunya virus since there was an outbreak in our compound. We have  a new puppy at home, my family named him “Sunjae” no matter how I disagree of naming our pets with Korean names I can’t seems to win with them. We got Sunjae from a distant relative, initially we are told the puppy is still lactating and it isn’t eating yet but my sister insisted of taking him home, planning to use baby formula on the puppy.

At home Jinjoo didn’t like the sight of the new puppy, she hates the puppy who keeps following her and trying to nurse at her. We just let them familiarize at each other and in the morning when we wake up they already get along, Jinjoo adopted the puppy and she nursed him like her own pup.

Sunjae is a very smart puppy, when you tell him no or hit him once he won’t repeat the same thing again. When feeding our pets he usually climb at my leg so I hit him lightly once and since then he didn’t do it again and just excitedly run and cry when I start feeding them. What’s funny about him, he don’t like taking a bath, he cries and whimper every time I pour water on him.

One morning I woke with a chest pain, like there is some boulder or hollow blocks in top of my chest. It scares me because I thought the lump in my breast is already envading my veins or body, I complained about it to my family but they didn’t do anything aside from asking what did I do.  The pain didn’t go away the next day, it was much worst because my back hurts as well, I almost panic thinking my lungs is deflating or watery.

Being bewitched by unseen being is normal in rural areas, so my sister and I went to a female herb doctor complaining my chest and back pain and I was asked what did I do before experiencing pain, she chuckled asking what am I carrying at my back to feel the pain.

Well, the night before, I have only thrown the cat litter in the vacant field, after doing an egg ritual it was found  out that I got bewitched by unseen being.  Believed it or not, but the form that was shown by the egg whites above was the same form that was shown when my sister went to a herb doctor a few months before I did. It wasn’t coincidental, it only means we are bewitched in the same place, which is true.  When I throw the cat litter in the rugs that night, I have already felt something strange like I am not alone and there’s some being looking at me, I was actually on hesitation to walk through but I I still did.

Anyway, the healer massage my back a bit and I was instructed to pick some clutter in the place shown in the egg whites dropped in a glass of water and burnt it together with the egg shells, and have the smoke goes to me (tuob) and after which I should throw the dirt or the burnt clutter back to the place where I picked them. I felt better after seeing a herb doctor my back pain was gone and I am able to sleep after doing the smoke ritual but when I wake up from a power nap I felt pain in my chest again.

The introverted me went out during the day to meet some old friends and since I felt guilty of eating out with my friends I invited my family to dine out last night, we have eaten already to few noted restaurants in Odiongan and we would like to try something new, a place we have not visited yet.

We end up at Deli Hunter a fast food restaurant in town which has opened on 2012.  We ordered and pay in the counter and waited for our food to be served, I ordered their blowout meals which consist 6 pieces fried chicken, 4 cups of rice, 2 mashed potatoes with gravy and 4 drinks for ₱555,  lumpiang shanghai ₱90, extra fried rice and Mie Goreng ₱90 to try.

The food was served in twenty minutes, the food was okay but oily especially the Mie Goreng (Indonesian Fried Noodles), yes it is a fried noodles but it is way too oily and looks over cooked since it is mushy. I have forgot to take photo of the Lumpiang Shanghai and I only remember about it when it was already half-eaten.

We ordered their milk tea to go ₱60 for the small ones and ₱80 for the large glass. Well, if you are getting tired of eating at Jollibee you can visit Deli Hunter they have more food in their menu aside from fried chickens for affordable price, they have menu for breakfast, choices of sandwiches, rice and noodles combo meals. Their restaurant is spacious and you can let your kids play and have some entertainment while waiting for your orders and if you prefer to eat in the comfort of your home they do delivery just dial the number below.
