Teaching English in Korea

Spread the love

The other night at the gym while putting my shoes on one of our acquaintance  started a conversation with me on what I am doing on my free time, if I have Korean friend, what do I do at home and etc., I simply replied surfing the net on her first question and no for having Korean friends because on my four years of existence in Korea I only met other people when I go out to shop and work out in the gym.  Well she asked me if I want to come with her, at first I am rattled thinking it is going to be  a church program but it turns out it was not. She asked me if I want to read history or probably story to the kids, if I want to teach English to them. I immediately say no and told her my English is not good but she insist that she thinks my English is good. Lol

When I told my husband about her invitation my husband immediate reaction is “but you’re English is not good” which I seconded and informed him that I declined her job invitation. It could be fine if I know I am fluent in English and I can work legally in Korea but as a dependent visa I am not allowed to work.

Hi there how are you doing?

I think you should give it a try, I mean reading an English story to kids wouldn’t require much as long as you’re just reading the story. Besides this kids would love to hear stories, especially if you’re going to translate those stories to hangeul.

Is it possible for you to recommend me to your friend? I am a Filipino too and a teacher by profession.

Thanks and have a great day!

Hi, Thanks for dropping by. We’re not actually friends, we are just both member of a particular gym and we see each other when when happened to work out on the same time and I am not seeing her anymore in the gym for few months already probably she didn’t extend her membership.

Hi Faye, only native English speakers are hired by agencies to teach English in Korea. Although, I heard that Filipina wives of Koreans were able to teach in Korea.

Hi! Your blog looks cute and interesting. And when I read about this post of yours, I just fainted and cried out “OMG!”. You are just such a lucky person. I’ve been looking for a job since last month, got 3 interviews but nobody took me in, and until now I am still looking. If someone asked me in the gym (I workout in the gym, too) to work as an English teacher, I’d drop my dumbbells and head off to the shower room then teach right away.May I ask, do you know anyone who’s looking for a Filipina English teacher? Please? I’m an F6 visa holder.
